Comfort Assessment

Comfort Assessments for PWN Homes

If your home in the Pacific Northwest feels uncomfortable, many factors, such as temperature fluctuations, poor airflow, and inconsistent insulation, could be contributing. Using advanced diagnostic technology, Revival Heating & Cooling’s comfort assessments identify problem areas and recommend long-lasting fixes. We share all of the data we find, giving each diagnostic test, like your air leakage, a number to determine a solution.

Home Comfort Assessment for Improved Comfort & HVAC Efficiency in the PNW

At Revival Heating & Cooling, our goal is to improve your home comfort and boost your energy efficiency. Our home comfort audits look at everything related to your home’s airflow loss. After we identify the problem areas, we recommend solutions that include:

  • Air sealing.
  • New ductwork designs.
  • Insulation improvement.
  • Window treatments.
  • Installing properly sized HVAC systems.

What Is a Home Comfort Assessment?

A home comfort assessment is essentially a home walkthrough during which our technicians use diagnostic techniques to determine your air leakage rate. This number places your home’s comfort level on a standard scale and helps us determine the steps needed to improve it. Once we have this number, we use a blower door with a thermal camera to find where you are losing air in your home and offer direct solutions. The whole process takes a few hours.

Unlike a basic HVAC inspection, a home comfort assessment gives you concrete data to work with, so you know exactly where your home is losing energy and air and why certain rooms never feel right.

What Does a Professional Home Comfort Assessment Evaluate?

Each one of our home comfort assessments evaluates your home’s comfort with the following:

  • A blower door air leakage test.
  • A thermal camera scan.
  • An insulation inspection.
  • An attic and crawlspace inspection.
  • A Manual J Heat Loss/Gain calculation.
  • A heating and cooling sizing analysis.
  • A basic home energy report.

Signs Your Home May Benefit from a Comfort Assessment

There are some signs that your home will benefit from Revival Heating & Cooling’s comfort assessment. They are:

  • Uneven heating and cooling: If your HVAC system isn’t maintaining the desired temperature in every room, a comfort assessment will identify the problem.
  • Thermostat issues: The thermostat shows 72°F, but it feels like 62°F.
  • Cold floors: If you can’t walk on your floor barefoot, there’s a problem.
  • It feels like a window is open: Even after checking that all windows are shut, you still feel a draft.
  • High energy bills: Your HVAC system could be overworking, or conditioned/heated air could be escaping before it reaches every room.

Revival Heating & Cooling’s Home Comfort Assessment Process

Our professional home comfort assessments follow a step-by-step process and include recommendations from our experienced technicians.

  • Step one: We test all areas of air leakage, assign you a number, and, using the thermal camera, pinpoint the exact spots that need improvement.
  • Step two: Once the improvement areas are identified, we work with the homeowner to develop an actionable plan to reduce the home’s heating and cooling needs and energy use.
  • Step three: After a plan is in place, we recommend upgrading to smaller, higher-efficiency systems to minimize energy use.
  • Step four: Once the first three steps are followed, energy generation systems, such as solar or battery systems, can be designed.

It’s important to note that while we recommend following every single step to cut down on your energy costs and increase your home comfort, customers are never forced to do anything.

How Home Comfort Assessments Can Improve HVAC Efficiency

A home comfort assessment identifies issues such as air leaks in the ductwork. Whenever an AC or furnace is pushing air through leaky ducts, it has to work harder to account for that air loss. This leads to worn-out parts, a shorter system lifespan, and, ultimately, a less efficient system. Over time, you can see this inefficiency on your utility bills.

By sealing leaks, providing adequate home insulation, and potentially treating windows, Revival Heating & Cooling will give your HVAC system a break and allow it to run at peak efficiency.

In addition, our home comfort assessment checks whether your HVAC system is properly sized for your home. Oversized or undersized systems will always struggle to fit in your current space and leave your home feeling uncomfortable.

Home Comfort Improvements That May Follow a Comfort Assessment

A home comfort assessment often uncovers opportunities to improve the evenness and efficiency of your home’s heating and cooling. During the evaluation, technicians look for issues such as air leaks, insulation gaps, poorly balanced ductwork, or outdated equipment that may be affecting comfort from room to room.

Based on the results, homeowners may choose to make improvements such as sealing air leaks, adding insulation, repairing or modifying ductwork, upgrading thermostats, or replacing an aging HVAC system. These upgrades help your heating and cooling system operate more efficiently, resulting in more consistent temperatures throughout the home.

A comfort assessment can also be especially helpful before installing a new HVAC system or after completing renovations, such as adding a room. In these situations, the assessment helps confirm that your system is properly sized and balanced, keeping your entire home comfortable year-round.

How Home Comfort Assessments Support Whole-Home Comfort Solutions

Whole-home comfort solutions work best when your HVAC system and airflow are properly balanced throughout the house. A home comfort assessment helps identify airflow restrictions, duct leaks, or insulation issues that could prevent humidity control systems and indoor air quality upgrades from performing as intended.

By evaluating how air moves through your home, technicians can recommend adjustments that help whole-home systems — such as humidifiers, dehumidifiers, and advanced filtration systems — distribute conditioned and filtered air more effectively. This ensures that improvements to humidity and air quality reach every room, creating a healthier, more consistent indoor environment.

How Does a Comfort Assessment Differ From a Home Energy Audit?

Revival Heating & Cooling offers two types of home assessments that use data to identify comfort and energy-efficient solutions. There’s our home comfort assessment, which we learned about above, and our home energy audit. A home comfort assessment costs start at $380.00.

A home energy audit includes everything in a home comfort assessment but adds a lighting and appliance analysis, an energy bill analysis and calibration, individual dollar-savings predictions, and a full energy report starting at $480.00.

It’s important to note that if you choose to move forward with a project upgrade after your comfort assessment or energy audit, half the cost of the initial assessment will be deducted from your project bill.
